My Story

Rehab That Builds You Back Stronger

I'm Dr. Coby Koehler, a chiropractor and rehab-focused strength coach in Childress, Texas. I believe you should be able to train, move and live without constantly working around your body.

I've always been drawn to the intersection of health, strength and performance. My path started with my own injuries playing high school football. Chiropractic care helped get me back on the field, and that's what first drew me to the profession. Later, dealing with my own back pain during chiropractic school turned my focus toward rehab and building long-term resilience.

I earned my B.S. in Biology from BYU-Hawaii, then my Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida campus. I'm also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, and I've trained in Functional Range Conditioning (FRCms) and Functional Range Assessment (FRA), The Barbell Rehab Method, PreScript Level 1, Strength System International Certification Levels 1 to 3, Hypertrophy Coach University and the Nutrition Coaching Institute (Level 1).

Along the way, I've spent years studying how the body moves, how injuries affect performance, and how to help people build their way back to the things they enjoy. I don't believe rehab should mean spending months being told what you can't do. And I don't believe getting out of pain should be the finish line. The goal is to build a body you trust again. That might mean lifting again after a back injury, returning to your sport after surgery, finally being able to pick up your kids without thinking about your back, or simply feeling confident in your body again. Today I run Barbell Rx Chiropractic & Rehab, bringing chiropractic care and strength-based rehab together under one roof. I'm married with two kids, Milo and Summer, and when I'm not in the clinic, you'll find me working out or playing with the kids.

You don't have to choose between feeling good and doing the things you love. You can have both. That's what Barbell Rx is about.

My Approach

At Barbell Rx

I combine chiropractic care, rehabilitation, and strength training to help you understand what's actually going on and give you the tools to move forward. Rather than just relying on passive treatment or chasing symptoms, we'll look at the bigger picture.

How you're moving

A thorough look at your movement patterns, strength, and capacity to understand what's actually limiting you.

What you can tolerate

We work within your current capacity and progressively build from there. No unnecessary restrictions.

What you need to do

Treatment is built around your actual goals. We identify what you need to get back to doing and build a plan to get there.

You'll learn what we're doing, why we're doing it, and how to eventually manage more of it on your own. Because I don't want you dependent on me forever.

I want you to leave with more confidence, more capacity, and a better understanding of your body than when you walked in.

Why Barbell Rx

Both Worlds

I've spent a lot of time in both worlds: clinical care and strength training. I understand that an active person doesn't necessarily want to be told to stop lifting, stop running, or "take it easy."

They want to know: "How do I keep doing what I love while we work through this?"

That's the question I want to help answer. Whether you're dealing with persistent pain, recovering from an injury or surgery, or simply trying to become stronger and more capable, we'll meet you where you are and build from there.

Evidence-Informed

Treatment decisions are grounded in current research and clinical reasoning, not tradition or habit.

Active Approach

Exercise and progressive loading are central to the process. Passive treatment alone does not build capacity.

Education First

You'll understand what we are working on and why. An informed patient is a more capable patient.

Goal-Driven

Treatment is built around what you actually want to get back to doing, not a generic protocol.
